Uncommon Voices Collective (“UVC,” “we,” “us”) is a community of Christian filmmakers, writers, and artists based in Pasadena, California. This policy explains what information we collect through this website, why we collect it, and what choices you have.
Information you give us
- Newsletter signups. If you subscribe, we collect your email address and, optionally, your first and last name. Our newsletter runs on Mailchimp.
- Donations. Donations are processed by Givebutter. Givebutter collects your name, email address, billing information, and gift amount. Payment card details go directly to Givebutter and its payment processors. UVC never sees or stores full card numbers.
- Messages you send us. If you email us or reach out about hosting a gathering, we keep your message and contact details so we can reply.
- Event RSVPs. Some gatherings are organized through Partiful. Anything you share there is handled under Partiful’s own privacy policy.
Information collected automatically
- Basic site analytics through Jetpack, including pages viewed, referring site, approximate location derived from IP address, and general device and browser type.
- Standard server logs kept by our host, WordPress.com (Automattic).
- Small data files stored by your browser that help the site function and help us understand general traffic patterns. You can block or clear these in your browser settings.
Embedded content from other websites
Some pages include material hosted elsewhere, such as YouTube videos, an Instagram feed, the Givebutter donation form, and Partiful event listings. These services can collect information about you in the same way they would if you visited them directly, and they do so under their own privacy policies rather than ours.
How we use your information
- To send the newsletter you asked for
- To process, acknowledge, and keep records of donations
- To tell you about gatherings, events, and new work from the collective
- To understand which parts of the site people find useful
- To keep the site secure and working properly
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers.
Who we share it with
We share information only with the services that help us operate: Automattic (hosting and analytics), Mailchimp (email), Givebutter (donations), Google and YouTube plus Meta and Instagram (embedded media), and Partiful (events). Each handles your data under its own policy. We may also disclose information where the law requires it.
How long we keep it
- Newsletter subscriptions: until you unsubscribe.
- Donation records: as long as we need them for tax, accounting, and nonprofit reporting obligations.
- Analytics: for the retention period set by our analytics provider.
Your choices
- Every newsletter includes an unsubscribe link.
- You can email us to ask what information we hold about you, to correct it, or to ask us to delete it.
- Your browser settings let you block or remove locally stored site data.
Depending on where you live, including California and the EU or UK, you may have additional rights over your personal information. Write to us and we will honor them.
Children
This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will remove it.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will revise the date at the top of the page.
