Following The Spirit
Since my last update, our team at UVC has been diligently working to complete the various projects in the pipeline, with the aim of a grand finale on the first weekend of October 7-8.
During our first in-person conference/gathering, the Fear Makers Conference (www.fearmakerscon.com ), we will be announcing the launch of a new podcast, “Be Afraid,” in collaboration with Christianity Today and Fuller Theological Seminary.
Our first devotional, “Don’t Look Away” reached our initial target in just 7 hours, and we are aiming to complete our stretch goal by the end of the Kickstarter campaign at the close of September.
The books are currently in the printing process, and we should be able to deliver them to our supporters at the conference.
The conference itself will be a first-of-its-kind event, focusing on the intersection of horror and faith. It will feature both visual and audio stimulation, along with panel discussions and open Q&A sessions with Christians working in the horror genre in Hollywood. For more details, please visit our website at www.fearmakerscon.com.
The full feature script of our short film, “Refuse,” has also been completed. We are screening this short film at the conference. All of the private screenings to date, at our Magic Blue House, churches, and universities, have generated deep, beautiful, and emotional discussions. It confirms how this “follow the Holy Spirit” project is exposing the neglect of mental health in both the church and AAPI communities.
Being a filmmaker is not my lifelong dream. There was no strategic planning nor vision casting that led us to produce this short film. As with all the other uncommon projects that I have reported, we are just trying to follow the Holy Spirit daily. This has been an incredibly freeing and joyful journey to date. Please come join our conference and experience what this “follow the Holy Spirit” project is all about.
